A large geode of quartz and orthoclase crystals on matrix from Cuasso al Monte, Varese Province, Lombardy, Italy, weighing 1,373 g and measuring 163 mm high, 110 mm wide and 80 mm deep.
Description from the seller
From our selection of collectible minerals we present a remarkable geode of Orthoclase with Quartz from Cuasso al Monte, Varese, Lombardy.
Additionally, it is characterized by an internal cavity lined with well-formed orthoclase and quartz crystals, with a suggestive color contrast between the yellow-ochre crust and the gray-transparent crystals that cover the interior of the geode, which enhances its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that highlight its natural structure and visual impact.
Orthoclase is a potassium feldspar (KAlSi3O8) of the monoclinic system, one of the most common minerals of the Earth's crust and an essential constituent of granites and pegmatites. The Cuasso al Monte area, in the province of Varese, has historically been known for quarries related to the alteration of granitic rocks, an environment favorable to the formation of geode cavities like this, where residual fluids allowed the growth of well-developed crystals. Quartz, silicon dioxide (SiO2) crystallized in the trigonal system, is often associated with feldspars in the final stages of magmatic crystallization or in subsequent hydrothermal processes.
This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, even in the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species.
All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for very rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
Shipping is carried out via reliable and selected express couriers, with fast delivery (in many cases 1-2 business days in Europe), tracked and insured shipment and professional and secure packaging, as confirmed by customer reviews. Deliveries can also occur the day after payment depending on the destination.
It is possible to accumulate multiple purchases and receive them in a single shipment, even from auctions with different deadlines, simply contact us to arrange the consolidation. For important pieces, direct home delivery by appointment or at major European fairs is also available.
