Cavalier Hogon - Dogon - Mali (No reserve price)

The horse and its rider occupy a special place in Dogon statuary from Malian art.

Seated on his mount, the rider wears a beard of beads and the traditional tribal headdress. Armed, he embodies royal power and invincibility. The horse, through the stylization of its forms, could refer to a mythical animal.

More than a mere physical representation, it symbolizes domination over both the material and immaterial worlds.
