Pair of Fagesia sp. Turonian ammonites from Nigeria, Cretaceous Turonian, natural specimens polished, total weight 430 g, dimensions 6.7 × 6 × 6 cm and 5.7 × 5.4 × 4.5 cm.
Description from the seller
Pair of Fagesia sp. Ammonites – Turonian, Cretaceous – Nigeria
An attractive pair of Fagesia sp. ammonites from the Turonian stage of the Cretaceous, originating from Nigeria.
Both specimens preserve the characteristic compact and strongly inflated shell form of the genus, with broad rounded whorls and a robust three-dimensional appearance. The natural surface shows attractive cream, beige, grey and darker mineralized tones, with subtle differences in preservation between the two ammonites.
The larger specimen displays a pale cream coloration with darker mineralized areas and a clearly visible umbilical region, while the smaller example shows deeper brown and grey tones with contrasting lighter patches. Their differing coloration makes the pair particularly appealing when displayed together.
Natural fractures, surface wear and areas of incomplete preservation are present, consistent with their fossil origin and geological history. These features contribute to the authentic character of the specimens.
A decorative and scientifically interesting pair, suitable for fossil collectors, natural history displays and cabinets of curiosities.
Species: Fagesia sp.
Age: Turonian, Cretaceous
Provenance: Nigeria
Dimensions: 6.7 × 6 × 6 cm and 5.7 × 5.4 × 4.5 cm
