Description from the seller
Ammonite Speetoniceras Versicolor from Russia – XXL specimen in Golden Pyrite, Rare and Exceptional
Exceptional specimen, worthy of the most discerning collectors
Ammonite entirely pyritized of the species Speetoniceras Versicolor. This species of ammonite, belonging to the family of extinct marine mollusks, lived millions of years ago during the Mesozoic period.
What makes this ammonite particularly interesting is its complete pyritization. Pyritization is a geological process during which the tissue of the marine organism is transformed into pyrite, an iron sulfide mineral. This fossilization process has exceptionally preserved the internal details of the ammonite, including its spiral segmented features and the chambers that developed inside the shell.
To highlight the internal chambers of the ammonite, the fossil has been carefully sectioned.
This cut shows the complex spiral structures of the internal chambers, which formed during the ammonite's growth. It is as if it were frozen in time, allowing us to explore the internal architecture of this ancient marine creature.
This pyritized ammonite fossil is a testament to the evolution of life on Earth and an invitation to explore the mysteries of our geological past. Each detail of the cut ammonite reveals Mother Nature's skill in creating extraordinary life forms, offering us a fascinating view of antiquity.
