Description from the seller
Goldscheider Art Deco “Tanz” Dancer Figurine – Model 8486 – Germany, c. 1940s
Rare and highly decorative Goldscheider ceramic figure, model No. 8486, depicting an elegant female dancer in a theatrical costume.
The figure is beautifully modeled in a graceful dancing pose, holding a finely decorated mauve shawl across her shoulders. She wears a fitted black bodice with pink lacing and a flowing ivory and pink dress richly decorated with hand-painted floral bouquets in shades of pink, red and purple.
Particularly attractive is the delicate lace-effect decoration of the shawl, contrasting beautifully with the glossy black bodice and base. The elegant modeling, stylized facial features and sophisticated color palette are characteristic of Goldscheider's celebrated figurative production.
The underside bears the Goldscheider factory mark, “Made in Germany,” and impressed model number 8486, together with additional production numbers.
Model: 8486
Manufacturer: Goldscheider
Origin: Germany
Period: circa 1940s
Material: Polychrome ceramic
Height: 31 cm (12.2")
Condition
The figure displays beautifully and retains attractive, vibrant decoration.
The neck has been restored, with the restoration visible around the circumference of the neck. The base has also been repaired following a previous break, with the repaired line visible through the black base. There is associated age-related wear and minor surface wear consistent with the age of the piece.
Please examine the detailed photographs carefully, particularly the close-up photographs of the neck and base, as they form an important part of the condition description.
Despite the restorations, this remains a scarce and highly decorative Goldscheider model, seldom encountered on the market and particularly appealing to collectors of Art Deco and Goldscheider figurative ceramics.
