Description from the seller

Master Secret Masonry Key – R.E.A.A. – Copper – 260 g – Carved wooden casket

A fine Masonic set consisting of an imposing symbolic copper key of 260 grams, accompanied by a richly decorated wooden case with engravings inspired by Masonic tradition.

The Master Secret Key – 4th degree of the R.E.A.A.

This key evokes the rank of Master Secret, the first degree of the higher degrees of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (R.E.A.A.).

Made of copper, it features a worked shape, with a voluted ornamental ring, a cylindrical shaft engraved with vegetal motifs, and an openwork tang.

An inscription composed of the letters B and J appears on the lower part of the tang, recalling the two symbolic columns of Solomon's Temple.

The key has a beautiful copper patina, highlighting its reliefs and engravings.

Key weight: 260 grams.

The carved wooden casket

The case presents a particularly detailed Masonic composition.

On the lid are:

Two columns reminiscent of those of Solomon's Temple.

An staircase leading to two slightly ajar doors, from which symbolic light radiates.

The letter G placed at the center of the radiant glow.

Two torches representing light and knowledge.

A large key laid horizontally in front of a square and compasses.

Acacia branches and decorative vegetal elements, symbols of permanence and the immortality of the soul.

The four corners of the lid are adorned with decorative metal fittings.

On the front face of the case is the Latin motto:

« QUAERE ET INVENIES »

« Seek and you shall find. »

This motto evokes the search for truth, knowledge and light, at the heart of the initiatic Masonic journey.

The case opens with two metal hinges and has a black interior designed to hold the key.

Masonic symbolism

At the 4th degree of the R.E.A.A., the key is an important symbol of the Master Secret.

It especially evokes discretion, fidelity, duty and the responsibility of one entrusted with a secret.

Together with the doors of the Temple and the motto “Seek and you shall find,” it reminds us that knowledge is gradually discovered through work, perseverance and reflection.

Condition

Beautiful overall condition, with visible patina on the copper and minor signs of handling.

The case features clearly visible engravings and decorative metal fittings.

Note: the small key used to lock the case is missing. The case opens and closes normally, but cannot be locked in the absence of this key.

An original, particularly decorative Masonic ensemble, intended for collectors of Masonic objects, symbolism enthusiasts, and enthusiasts of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite.

Sale includes the 260-gram copper key and its carved wooden case.

The set is sold in accordance with the photographs.
