Bruno Munari Falkland floor lamp, designed in 1964, with a white tubular elastic mesh diffuser, a painted steel frame, an aluminum reflector, seven metal rings, standing 195 cm tall with a 40 cm square base, in as-new condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
Bruno Munari, 1964. Floor lamp. Diffuser in a white tubular elastic mesh, steel structure painted.
The shape of the Falkland lamp comes from the tension of a filanca tube and the weight of several metal rings: it is a spontaneous form, generated solely by the tension of the internal forces that compose it.
Seven metal rings of different diameters, a white filanca tube, a single light bulb and an aluminum reflector that mirrors the curves of the fabric.
This lamp more than the others meets the requirements Munari indicates as indispensable for proper design: simplicity, efficiency, minimal storage space, and maximum formal impact.
Born from the mingling of objects extremely distant from each other, such as fishing nets, women’s stockings, and Oriental paper lamps.
Over 1.6 meters tall, it folds down in a packaging of just a few centimeters of space; light filters through the tube, using the texture of the fabric to create a characteristic soft, diffuse glow.
After purchasing, please kindly send via Catawiki messaging your national ID code or VAT number to complete the invoice. Many thanks
