Magnificent bronze head representing a king of the Kingdom of Ifé. The Kingdom of Ifé was one of the great kingdoms in southern Nigeria established by the Yoruba people.
The workmanship is exceptional; the artist who created this piece was at the height of his art. The face is strong, bearing a dignified and determined expression. The gaze is piercing and intimidating. It imposes its presence. Beautiful old patina.
Some flaws visible in the photos. Sold as is. This ancient bronze is a work of high quality, made with the lost-wax technique (see Google) which makes this work unique. Without thermoluminescence testing, the attribution is given as indicative, based on our knowledge. Circa 1950.

Magnifique tête en bronze représentant un roi du royaume d'Ifé. Le royaume d'Ifé était l'un des grands royaumes du sud du Nigeria instauré par le peuple Yoruba. 
Le travail est exceptionnel, l'artiste qui à réalisé cette oeuvre était au sommet de son art. Le visage est fort, il porte une expression digne et déterminé. Le regard et perçant et intimidant. Il impose sa présence. Belle patine ancienne.
Quelques accidents visibles sur les photos. Vendu en l'état. Ce bronze ancien est une oeuvre d'une grande qualité, réalisé avec la technique de la cire perdu (voir Google) ce qui rend cette oeuvre unique. Sans test de thermoluminescence, l'attribution est donnée à titre indicatif, basée sur nos connaissance. Circa 1950.
