Castiglion del Bosco Brunello di Montalcino 2018, in 0.75 L bottles, 6 bottles.
Description from the seller
Brunello di Castiglion del Bosco originates from the uniqueness of the Capanna vineyard, located northwest of Montalcino. The distinctive characteristics of this vineyard, such as natural isolation, altitude and soil, mainly characterized by the presence of clay slate, impart refined elegance and great personality to this precious wine.
Vintage 2018 at Castiglion del Bosco:
The 2018 vintage was a challenge for both man and vine. The cool, wet spring made the vegetation of the vines very vigorous. Green canopy management required a lot of care and work to allow the plant to reach vegetative balance. These climatic conditions continued into the early summer, characterized by cool days and abundant rain. The late summer was warm and dry, which allowed good ripening, albeit slightly earlier than usual. In the first half of September, harvest began in the Gauggiole zone, on the north side of the estate. The grapes showed excellent acidity and a relatively low sugar content, perfect for fresher, more vibrant wines. The excellent varietal expressions and very mature tannins will give rise to a Brunello that is highly recognizable, with a clear and unique style.
Vinification and aging:
Fermentation occurred at a controlled temperature (28°C) for 18 days. Aging took place in French oak barrels (30-50 hl) and barriques for 24 months. It then continued with bottle aging before market release.
