Description from the seller

Authentic tram dashboard – Amsterdam GVB Bolkop (1G–7G)

A unique piece of Amsterdam tram history for the true enthusiast!

For sale: an authentic operator’s console from the world of the classic Amsterdam GVB trams, known as the Bolkoppen.

The Amsterdam articulated tram series 1G through 7G were delivered between 1957 and 1968 and determined the city’s streets for decades. These characteristic trams were a familiar sight on Amsterdam’s tram rails and, for many enthusiasts, form a cherished reminder of a special era in public transport.

A console full of character
------------------------

This special object exudes the atmosphere of the technology from that period. The panel features several original-looking control elements, including:

- Several colored control and signal lamp windows.
- Large push-buttons for, among other things, coupling and the operation of the doors.
- Metal switches, levers and control elements with distinctive buttons.
- An analog 24V voltmeter.
- Original Dutch-language inscriptions, such as Deuren gesloten, Oprijden, Richtingaanwijzer and Reserve rem.
- An electromechanical rear side with wiring, electrical components and connections.

It is precisely the combination of the weathered finish, the classic inscriptions and the visible technology that makes this a particularly decorative and historically interesting object.

For collectors and tram fans
--------------------------------

This console is ideally suited for a collector of Dutch public transport equipment, a tram or rail enthusiast, a museum space or a distinctive mancave. It would also be an excellent focal point in an office, workshop or model railway setting.

As a tram driver, I now face a modern control panel on a daily basis. Therefore, this characterful piece of tram history may now move to the next enthusiast who can give it a beautiful home.

Condition and details
-------------------------

The console is in used, well-worn condition, with visible wear, aging and superficial rust on various parts. These marks contribute to its authentic character.
The console rests in a wooden enclosure that was custom-made for this purpose.

The item is offered as shown in the photographs. The operation of the electrical and mechanical components has not been tested. Also, the exact provenance and the specific car number have not been documented.

A very special collector’s item for those who want to keep the history of the Amsterdam tram alive!
