AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Fascinating and rare vintage industrial sign crafted from sturdy heavy sheet metal (thickness 1.5 mm, weight 2.2 kg), originally used inside factories or mechanical workshops in the mid-20th century to regulate the operation of large liquid-cooled compressors.
The plaque bears in bold, clearly legible black characters the safety inscription: "OPEN THE COOLING WATER BEFORE STARTING THE COMPRESSOR – CLOSE IT AS SOON AS IT STOPS", framed by a distinctive red warning border.
The piece has not undergone any modern restoration: it retains its original patina intact, enhanced by superficial rust blooms due to natural aging and exposure in a workshop environment. A characterful item with strong visual impact, perfect for industrial-style loft decor, as a collectible for a vintage garage, or as a retro-modern element for workshops and commercial enterprises.
