Description from the seller

Islamic Silver Ring with Engraved Octagonal Carnelian – 17th to 19th Century AD

An Islamic silver finger ring set with an octagonal carnelian stone of warm reddish-orange colour, bearing a shallow, heavily worn engraved design. The angular stone is enclosed within a raised bezel with a stepped border, emphasising its geometric outline. Engraved ornament decorates the sides of the setting, while the shoulders have elongated raised details separated from the bezel by open spaces. The hoop narrows towards the back and retains slight irregularities in its outline. The contrast between the translucent red stone and the silver mount gives the ring a distinctive appearance. Surface scratches, darkened recesses and wear are visible throughout, and the surviving engraving cannot be read reliably from the photographs.

Material: Silver and carnelian
Dimensions: Overall measurement 29 mm
Weight: 6.75 g

Provenance: Acquired in UK from a British private collection.

We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years. A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
