Brookite almost always occurs together with quartz; sometimes it is completely hidden in the quartz mineral. It is a rare collectible mineral, particularly its variety called Arkansite, a black and opaque brookite found at Magnet Cave, Arkansas (USA). Sometimes only small fragments can be transparent. Cut crystals are very rare and mostly in private collections.
