Description from the seller

Experience a peerless glimpse inside Porsche’s secret archive rooms with Artifacts and gain a comprehensive artistic panorama of the historic objects, vehicles, and personal stories that have shaped Porsche into what it is today.

Presented by Type 7 and published by ERG Media with Porsche Museum Edition, Artifacts offers an abstract artistic representation with striking lighting and high-resolution photographs. Each object is carefully examined by photographer and principal creator Thomas Walk, who focalizes on textures, patina, and the history inherent in every piece.

Photographed on site in Zuffenhausen, thousands of historic pieces have been preserved to form a meaningful selection exploring the full breadth of the archives. It includes items from the Porsche family, Porsche design and development equipment, cars from the Porsche Museum, and unseen glimpses into the archives.

This large-format, beautiful 356-page book accompanies its photographs with a separate detachable index that tells the story of each object. The result is a reading experience not unlike that of an archivist walking through the tangible history of Porsche.

ERG Media’s team spared no effort on the packaging, collaborating with Andy Cruz of House Industries to offer a tactile experience that reflects the feel of the objects it contains, going so far as to create a bespoke typeface for the occasion. Arriving wrapped in paper whose elements pay homage to the Porsche 911 Turbo design schematics, readers will discover, once the paper is unwrapped, an archival box with reinforced metal corners. Once the seal is removed, the book’s red slipcase is revealed; it draws inspiration from the racing heritage and the thousands of document files that fill the shelves of the Archives. By pulling a ribbon, readers slowly unveil the book, like a physical experience, and ultimately discover a treasure trove of photographs and information inside.
