Belgium - Military medal - Belgian Cross of Recognition of the Royal Federation of Veterans of King Albert I

The Cross of Veterans of King Albert I is an unofficial, yet highly respected Belgian association decoration. Below you will find all detailed background information about this insignia.

• The Federation: The decoration was established by the National Federation of Veterans of King Albert I (founded in 1948). This association's aim was to keep alive the memory of the 'King-Soldier' Albert I and the soldiers who fought under his reign (1909–1934) during the First World War.
• The Model with Swords: The crossed swords behind the medallion indicate that this particular specimen was awarded to a former combatant / military veteran. There is also a variant without swords (the so-called Cross of Loyalty or Fidélité) for sympathizers or civil merits.
