Description from the seller
Design Novelty Radio / Space Age Pop Design
Lot of 4 Europhon advertising radios bottle-shaped Cynar – Italy, 1960s.
This is a product nicknamed "talking objects" that Europhon had in its catalog in the mid-1960s. Ashtrays, lamps, bottles… all with a dual function tied to the electronics of the time, a field in which Europhon was particularly well known.
It is a rare and fascinating lot composed of four vintage advertising radios. Made in Italy and characterized by the distinctive bottle shape, in this case the famous Cynar aperitif.
These original promotional objects fuse Italian industrial design, the history of advertising, and vintage radio technology. The silhouette of the bottle, the dark body, the distinctive red cap and the Cynar label make these radios instantly recognizable and particularly decorative. Often given as gifts to distributors and bar establishments.
Indeed, in the 1960s Italian advertising stood out for the creativity and originality of its promotional gadgets. These radios thus represent an interesting example of how a commercial product could be transformed into a design and collectible object.
Manufacturer: Europhon
Era: presumably the 1960s
Brand advertised: Cynar
Type: advertising radios (talking objects) transistor radios bottle-shaped
Operation: all four bottles work, i.e. crackle since they can only be used on AM, now obsolete. They require specialized service.
The four radios are working even if the sound is weak and crackling. They require 4 AA 1.5 V batteries. They show normal signs of age but the aesthetic condition is as shown in the photos.
No cracks, scratches, or other damage. A slight detachment of the label glue but nothing more.
The images are explanatory.
As mentioned, they work but at low volume (crackling) and are perfectly intact and without any scratches or cracks. Difficult to find in these conditions.
