AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The Adventures of Tintin The Sceptre of Ottokar EO
Prepublication in Belgium in Le Petit Vingtième
Pagination 3 to 108, small image pasted without color.
First appearance of Castafiore

Album part of the first 500 issues released, before the modifications decided by Hergé,
very beautiful bright covers, 1 discreet spot at the top of the last,
clean endpapers, 2 small cracks in the first endpaper
clean interior, small mark in the inner margin along page 107
no writings, no scotch, no loss, superb spine with well-formed caps,
square corners and sharp, nice edges,
magnificent original back (without any retouch, nor defect)
near mint condition.
album over 86 years old, kept with care.
no signs of reading

very rare album from the very first edition which was 500 copies printed hastily without color (HT) in November 1939
for Hergé wanted it published before the end of the year, but the delay in delivering the color rotatives for the HT did not allow it.
Hergé being absent, and wishing to publish the book before the end of 1939, he asked his printing team to print it without the HT in 500 copies (a light annual colorization was tested on the first 3 pages) and pages 46 and 47 where La Castafiore appears for the first time.

upon his return, and with the arrival of the machines, production resumed with the four color HTs.

Very rare album given its historic print run and excellent workmanship.
Personal collection.

Shipped in reinforced packaging, insured, and carefully protected.
