Large Chinese nephrite jade brush pot (bitong) –China- 20th Century
On offer is a top-carved Chinese jade brush pot (bitong).This very rare bitong is made from 1 single piece of soft-white colored thick-walled nephrite jade. This remarkable piece has been crafted in Chinese taste with highest quality superb engraving all around. The engraving shows a continuous dragon décor between spiral clouds. Details are superb, like the horned dragon face and the scales on the dragon body. Let yourself be convinced by the many photos that show every detail of this masterpiece. Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. Provenance: This excellent and rare jade piece comes from inland China.
