Description from the seller

Rarest Table Service by Richard Ginori
Mondovi - Linea "Paola"
", Decoro "Anemoni"
- Fine Ceramic, Whole Painted by Hand - Complete for 12 People - 41 Pieces
(1960s)
In auction an extraordinary, complete and vibrant vintage table service signed by the historic Italian manufacturer Richard Ginori Mondovi, dating from the mid-20th century (circa the 1950s/60s). The service belongs to the famous "Paola" line and features the iconic and highly sought-after floral pattern "Anemoni".
Each individual piece is a unique ceramic work of art: the floral motif is entirely drawn and hand-painted underglaze, characterized by magnificent chromatic brilliance in shades of cobalt blue, deep strawberry red, and ochre tones. The design echoes the unmistakable stylistic imprint and the joie de vivre introduced into the manufactory by Gio Ponti.
Finding a lot this numerous, complete for a full 12 place settings and enriched by exceptional coordinating serving pieces, represents an absolute rarity on the modern decorative arts and collecting market.
Complete composition of the service (41 total pieces):
• 12 flat plates 23.5 x 3
• 12 soup bowls 22 x 5
• 12 dessert/fruit plates 21 x 2
• 2 oil cruets (extremely rare, complete with their coordinating movable caps)
• 1 jug / carafe (very scenographic, also splendid as a decorative piece)
• 1 small saucer for the sauce boat (oval shape) 22 x 15
• 1 large tray/serving plate 35 x 24
The service presents in excellent overall aesthetic condition. As visible in the images, the original glaze’s brilliance remains intact and the colors are vivid, testimony to a set that has been cared for with great care over the years.
Being genuine stoneware of its era, the pieces show the classic and elegant signs of time that certify its antiquity:
• Natural crazing: The surface of several elements displays the typical, fascinating underglaze spider web (crazing), a physiological phenomenon for old and aged ceramic that enhances its vintage charm.
• Signs of use: The vast majority of the 41 pieces are intact and defect-free. For maximum transparency to collectors, only very light wear chips are reported, concentrated on the lower base (the resting surface, thus not visible when the plate is placed on the table) on just 3 or 4 pieces. Also present is a slight, small chip on the spout of the jug and a thin vintage crack on a single small plate. None of these details detracts from the splendid overall aesthetic impact of the set during mise en place.
Please carefully view the rich attached photographic gallery, which shows the original marks on the bottom and constitutes an integral part of the description.
Professional shipping with express courier. Each piece will be individually wrapped with bubble wrap and reinforced protective materials inside specific boxes for fragile goods.
