Description from the seller
Stölzle Hermanova Huť - Schaal - Art Deco centerpiece • satin-trimmed stepped motif • Czechoslovakia • 1930s - Glass
Large Art Deco bowl from Stölzle, Heřmanova Huť, with stepped motifs in clear glass against satin-finished surfaces. Glass balls form the handles and feet. With a width of 34 centimeters, this is a centerpiece that fills the table. The contrast between clear relief and soft satin catches the light.
For this object a Buy Now price has also been set for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting.
Description:
A wide, multi-sided bowl with a wavy edge, divided into panels. Each panel alternates a ribbed, stepped relief with a satin-finished panel. On either side are glass balls as handles, under the bowl three ball- feet. In the base lie glass nodules in a cross shape around a larger central knob. The glass is pressed into the mold.
About the maker:
The glassworks Heřmanova Huť was founded in 1907 by Stölzle. From 1910 the factory pressed glass. In the 1930s a catalog appeared with model numbers, full of Art Deco bowls and vases in geometric forms. In 1965 the factory merged into the Sklo Union group; production ceased in 2002.
In interior design:
Fits in an Art Deco, retro or eclectic interior, as a fruit bowl or table centerpiece on a dining table or sideboard. The satin softly diffuses the light.
Condition:
Good, with signs of use. The satin has worn away in several places, especially on the surfaces, giving the matte finish an uneven appearance. Edges, balls and feet: no chips or cracks observed. See the photos. Offered as a decorative object, not intended for use with food.
