Description from the seller
Elegant pair of antique French trumpet vases (soliflores) in crystal on a finely finemastered fire-gilded bronze foot. These majestic vases combine the purity of high-quality crystal with the rich appearance of French bronze work, characteristic of refined taste during the Napoleon III and early Belle Époque period. Features: The crystal: The vase has a classic, slim trumpet- or goblet-shaped (cornet) form that ends in a gracefully wavy, festooned upper rim. The crystal features subtle vertical facets or optical ribs that beautifully refract light. The bronze mount: The crystal rests in a richly decorated sleeve with stylized acanthus leaf decor, flowing into a richly worked, rounded base. The base is adorned with finely finemastered reliefs, garlands, and neoclassical ornaments. This type of luxury glassware was manufactured in the late 19th century in France and is closely related in design and finish to the creations of renowned French crystal houses such as Baccarat. A stunning decorative piece that fits perfectly on a fireplace, sideboard, or as a centerpiece on a chicly laid table.
