Superb Oil Lamp of Art Nouveau Era 1900 – Burner BJB & Glass G.L. Crystal of Lorraine (Height 54 cm)
Superb table oil lamp from the Art Nouveau period (Circa 1890 - 1910), complete and entirely original.
This collectible item is distinguished by a remarkable era-industrial alliance, combining high German mechanical engineering with the excellence of French master glassmakers.
Dimensions
Total height: 54 cm (with the glass tube)
Maximum width: 25 cm
The Body and Decoration
Material: repoussé brass worked, bearing fine raised arabesque motifs.
Ornamentation: The upper dome is adorned and set with cabochons in violet-tinted glass original, all present and intact, offering magnificent reflections in the light.
The Mechanical Burner (Germany)
Manufacturer: Brökelmann, Jaeger & Busse (BJB) in Neheim.
Marking: The wick-adjustment knob bears the rare export logo of the brand in the shape of a stylized clover (spike at the center of a radiant star). The mechanism is original and testifies to the robustness of the Kosmos systems of the era.
The Glassware (France - Lorraine)
Manufacturer: Cristallerie de Goetzenbruck-Lemberg (Moselle).
Acid-etched marks: Mention "Cristal de Lorraine", coat of arms of the Cross of Lorraine, and initials of the manufacture "G.L.".
Special feature: This high-quality heat-resistant glass chimney is original, uncracked, and highly sought after by lamp-lighters as it has survived the fire-related accidents of the last century.
Excellent cosmetic condition for its age. The brass has a superb antique patina. The original engraved glassware is intact (no chips or cracks). Its generous dimensions (54 cm in height) make it a very elegant and majestic table piece.
Ideal piece for collectors of antique lamps (lamp-tilers? lamp-lighters) or for bold decorative styling (cabinet of curiosities, Art Nouveau, Napoleon III). The grail is that the original wick is present....
