Description from the seller
Art Deco Vase with Polychrome Geometric Decor – A.M.C. Wasmuël – Model 208 / Decor 739 – Ca. 1930
A splendid and characteristic Art Deco ceramic vase, produced around 1930 in Belgium by the renowned faience factory Auguste Mouzin & Compagnie (A.M.C.) at Wasmuël.
This object is a true exemplar of the heyday of the Belgian Art Deco period. The egg-shaped vase is decorated all around with a striking and rhythmic polychrome pattern. The geometric design consists of clean triangles and stylized, fan-shaped elements in deep cobalt blue and ochre yellow, set off by bold black contour lines against a cream-colored background.
The central fields feature a contrasting brown oval medallion containing three stylized black flames or chevron shapes. The whole is finished with a beautiful glossy glaze with a fine, uniform crazed network.
On the underside is the authentic black factory stamp of A.M.C. Belgium, together with the hand-written decor number 739 and the blind-pressed model number 208.
