HISTORY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Presented in the late 1960s by the Jaén-based factory Metalúrgica de Santa Ana, the Land Rover Santana 1300 "Forward Control" was a lightweight transport solution conceived to meet the harsh demands of the Iberian rural environment. Based on the forward control cabin layout to maximize load surface while maintaining excellent off-road capability, it became a fundamental tool for farmers and ranchers. This unit, registered in 1973, originally served in cattle transport in Idiazábal (Basque Country), preserving its valuable historic San Sebastián plate (SS). It is currently located in Madrid.
CAR BODY/PAINTING:
The exterior metal cabin has undergone a complete restoration and has been fully repainted in an era blue/gray shade, presenting a clean finish. The chassis has been cleaned and repainted in black to ensure long-term structural preservation. The handcrafted wooden rear cargo box is preserved treated and painted, highlighting its natural grain, with traces of surface rust on fittings and chains that preserve its original working patina. The unit is equipped with a metal roof rack over the cabin.
INTERIOR:
The functional-style cabin features bodywork repainted to match the exterior. The front bench and seats have been recently reupholstered in black vinyl in excellent condition. It retains the central layout of the dashboard with its original analog instrumentation, classic three-spoke Land Rover steering wheel, and central gear selector. The wiring and electrical controls of the cabin are operational.
MECHANICS:
Under the cab lies the 4-cylinder, 2,286 cc diesel engine delivering 62 hp. The mechanicals start easily after the usual glow plug warm-up period and run smoothly with no smoke emissions. The manual transmission has been restored with new seals and gaskets, paired with a completely new clutch kit. The overall drive cycle has been comprehensively restored, including axles, braking system and steering joints, as well as an exhaust line replaced in 2019. The unit is supplied with a new battery and recent inspection with fluids (engine, transmission and differentials) replaced.
DOCUMENTATION:
The vehicle has its Spanish documentation and original ordinary registration history from San Sebastián (SS-C-0225). Records and technical maintenance history up to date.
It is recommended to view the vehicle before bidding to avoid later disappointments. To arrange an appointment to view it, please contact Catawiki. Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
