Description from the seller
Fascinating lot composed of 3 professional hotel lattières/brks (hotelware) in heavy silver-plated metal of excellent Northern European craftsmanship. The pieces, distinguished by an elegant cylindrical design clearly inspired by Art Déco, feature hinged lids with knob and geometric handles, designed to keep beverages (coffee, milk or hot water) warm.
While maintaining perfect aesthetic uniformity for table service, the pieces bear different historic marks on the bottom, testifying to their origin and quality:
1. 60 cl brick – B. Buhrmann Nachf. Zürich: a rare piece punch-marked by the famous luxury supplier for Swiss hotel industry. The underside bears the year-of-manufacture 1985 incased in a diamond, along with the crowned “S” stamp certifying the high thickness of the silver plating.
2. 70 cl brick – Bruckmann: produced by the prestigious German manufactory Bruckmann & Söhne (Heilbronn). Shows the circled “25” stamp, indicating the grams of pure silver used for galvanization of the lot.
3. Third coordinated brick to complete the splendid breakfast or service set.
The objects are distinguished by extreme sturdiness and construction quality of yesteryear, evident from the significant specific weight of the materials.
Technical details and dimensions
• Material: Heavy silver-plated metal (alpaca plated with high-thickness silver / EPNS)
• Height: about 15 - 16 cm (excluding lid knob)
• Width (from spout to handle): about 14 cm
• Capacity: 1 x 70 cl, 1 x 60 cl, 1 x coordinated piece
• Total weight of the lot: 2,177 grams (over 2.1 kg)
• Era / Origin: Germany / Switzerland – 20th Century (one piece officially dated 1985)
Conditions
In good vintage condition with normal signs of use. The structure and lid hinges are perfectly intact and functional. The exterior shows a splendid luster with very light micro-scratches from professional use. The interior displays a natural oxidation patina and typical signs of epoch use, which do not compromise integrity and can be cleaned with specific products. They retain all their historical charm intact. (Carefully view the rich accompanying photos which are an integral part of the description).
Shipping: trackable, fast, and with careful professional packaging.
