Description from the seller

General

This Land Rover Series 2A Cherry Picker from 1964 is a rare and functional classic, powered by a 2.25-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. The car has been thoroughly restored and equipped with a well-working Simon L25 hydraulic boom.

On the registration, the vehicle is listed as "station wagon/combination", which at that time was a common designation when converted to a special body. This makes the Land Rover a unique sight for enthusiasts, collectors or promotional purposes.

Body & Paint

During the restoration the body was fully dismantled, ice-pearl blasted and newly painted in the classic Mid Grey (8683). In full accordance with the original Land Rover specifications the weld seams have remained visible and no unnecessary filler has been used. The bulkhead has been replaced with a durable galvanized unit and around it new window and door seals have been fitted.

Technical & Hydraulics

The chassis has been thoroughly de-rusted, where necessary skillfully repaired (including new front outriggers and repair to the front of the chassis due to old tow strap damage) and fully finished in chassis paint. The braking system has been renewed throughout. The 2.25L petrol engine and the gearbox have been provided with new gaskets, seals, clutch plate and release bearing.

The hydraulic pump, fittings and hoses of the Simon L25 boom are completely new and the system functions properly (due to the age, it does not have hose-burst valves). The windshield wiper motors have been rebuilt. Note: the heater and the windshield wipers still need to be connected electrically and after standing unused the car locally leaks a drop of oil.

Interior

The interior is clean and functionally laid out. New aftermarket seats have been installed, while retaining the original steering wheel, instrument cluster and heater. To preserve the rugged workmanlike character, the cabin is finished bare, without headliner or door trim.

Documentation & Pickup

There is very limited historical documentation with the car. The sale includes the older registration documents with the historical configuration description. The vehicle must be collected by the purchaser on site.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
