Description from the seller

IN RISALTO:
• Car with original first registration plate Torino (TO-899027) re-admitted to circulation in 1993
• Only about 17 km driven from purchase in 2022 to today and stored in private garage
• Underwent complete mechanical and electrical overhaul finished in October 2022
• Equipped with a new battery (replaced April 2026) and service belt replaced June 2026

HISTORY/PANORAMA:
The Fiat 500C, popularly nicknamed "Topolino", represents one of the most famous and loved cars in Italian post-war automotive history. Introduced in 1949 with a redesigned front end compared to previous series and featuring the practical fabric convertible top, it combines simple construction, efficiency and vintage charm. This 1952 example preserves the history of its first registration in Turin (plate TO-899027) and was re-registered in Italy on October 2, 1993 with Milan plate (MI6Z2883). Since May 5, 2022 the car belongs to the current owner, who keeps it indoors in a garage and has covered only about 17 km since the last restoration.

BODYWORK/PAINTWORK:
The bodywork, the subject of repainting by the previous owner, is generally in good condition and maintains a uniform shine. No signs of rust through are evident (only light traces of surface rust in the engine compartment). The seller notes some light usage scratches and a small dent on the rear hood near the left side of the plate. The seals provide good sealing, the chrome parts are in order, and there is a chromed metal rear luggage rack that has never been installed or used. The original fabric soft top has been replaced by the previous owner and is intact. Note the absence of the key for the door and hood lock. The tyres are in fair condition and replacement is recommended.

INTERIOR:
The cabin is in excellent overall preservation, with the upholstery arranged by the previous owner. The coverings show no tears or significant damage, only small stains and minor surface scratches. The fabric top is intact and fully functional. The dashboard and onboard instruments are operational, showing normal signs of wear with some vintage aging. Internal lighting and all main controls are active and functioning.

MECHANICS:
The mechanicals underwent a thorough, complete general overhaul finished in October 2022. Work performed includes a full overhaul and partial rebuilding of the electrical system, servicing of the braking system with piston release, replacement of the brake pump and shoes with original parts, cleaning of the tank and fuel system, oil change and inspection of all linkages. More recently the battery (April 2026) and the service belt (June 2026) were replaced. The car starts reliably at first attempt both hot and cold and is ready to drive. Headlights, lights and horn are perfectly functional. The engine shows only the physiological oil seepage typical of vehicles of its era. The periodic inspection is currently expired.

DOCUMENTS:
The documentation includes the registration card in the name of the current owner, the inspection certificate dated 29/10/2022, and the original user and maintenance manual from the period.

Seller's Story

For over 20 years, I have dedicated myself passionately to the search for and trading of special, rare, curious objects from any era. Every piece I select has something that catches my attention: it can be the shape, the story, the unusual aspect, or simply that detail that makes it unique. I am always searching for objects that speak, that tell something to those who know how to listen. I choose them carefully, photograph them honestly, and describe them as accurately as possible. Selling on this Catawiki to share this passion with those who, like me, love to surround themselves with things with a soul.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
