Description from the seller
Vintage German Red Cross First Aid Enamel Sign – Industrial Emergency Sign, c. 1930–1950
A striking German enamel Red Cross sign. This authentic industrial-style sign was designed to identify first-aid facilities and emergency assistance points in public buildings, factories and workplaces.
This rare sign reflects the practical visual communication of pre-war and post-war European industrial design, where strong colours and instantly recognisable symbols were essential for public safety. It is associated with the historical tradition of German-speaking Unfall-Hilfsstellen (accident assistance stations).
Made from heavy-gauge sheet iron with an enamelled finish, this substantial piece has excellent decorative appeal for collectors of vintage industrial signage, medical memorabilia and authentic European advertising objects.
The sign remains straight, with no warping. It shows visible age-related wear, scratches, enamel loss and areas of corrosion, particularly along the edges and corners. These signs of use contribute to its authentic vintage character.
