Garnet is a mineral that often forms stones of other types, which is why it is found in metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary rocks; it can also indicate hydrothermal alterations with silicates that are related to skarns.
Belongs to a complex group of silicate minerals, which crystallize as tough and dense in the isometric crystal system.
Its intense red color led to demand for this rock as a gemstone and semi-precious stone.

This gemstone in ancient times was cut and worked as a gem of high value; for example, Vikings used them as jewelry for funerary ornaments.

In contrast, the Crusaders decorated their armor with the stone to make themselves braver in battle, and victors adorned their swords and shields with the stone for protection.
