Description from the seller
Champagne cooler, Champagne Emmer, ice bucket, cooler, wine cooler, Bucket, Seau.
Beautiful Art Deco Champagne cooler made for the house St. MARCEAUX in Reims.
M.A. de Saint-Marceaux, who has been marketing champagne since 1832, had an establishment built between 1870 and 1872 on Rue de Sillery, according to the plans of architect Alphonse Gosset.
The buildings were damaged during the First World War and were restored.
Currently they are inhabited by the champagne house Henri Abelé.
The cooler is on one side fitted with a rectangular raised plaque, bearing the text: "CHAMPAGNE
St. MARCEAUX".
All of this is executed in beautiful relief lettering with an ornamental border, also equipped with fan-shaped handles with grapevines underneath.
Dimensions:
Height 20 cm.
Diameter 19.5 cm.
Width (including handles) 27 cm.
Weight 1172 g.!
The cooler is in particularly beautiful condition and is still perfectly usable; the inside is nicely lived-in, with history, character and patina (see photos).
A true eye-catcher on any bar, table or party.
A genuinely old piece, hard to find, making it a serious collectors item!
