Description from the seller
The spinner shark, Carcharhinus brevipinna, is a species of shark in the genus Carcharhinus and the family Carcharhinidae. They are found in tropical and warm temperate waters worldwide, except for the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean. They inhabit both coastal and offshore waters, down to depths of 100 meters, though they prefer shallow bottoms.
It has a slender body, the snout is elongated, and the fins are marked by black tips.
This shark can reach a maximum length of about 3 meters. They are fast, schooling predators that feed on a variety of bony fishes and cephalopods. When feeding in groups, they move rapidly through the shoal, revolving around their own axis and partially emerging from the water. This behavior gives rise to the English common name spinner shark. Like other Carcharhinidae, the species is viviparous, and females give birth to 3 to 20 pups each year.
Well-preserved jaw of Carcharhinus brevipinna, belonging to an adult specimen of truly substantial size for its species.
Good lot.
