Elegant fall-front secretary in Louis XV style, France, late 19th – early 20th century

Charming fall-front secretary in Louis XV style, presenting an elegant curved silhouette and a rich decoration in precious wood veneer and marquetry. The front as well as the sides are adorned with decorative motifs in wood of different species, enhanced by fittings in gilded bronze.

The piece is topped with an elegant veined marble top and rests on graceful curved legs enhanced by bronze sabots. The fall-front opens to reveal an interior arranged with several small drawers and storage compartments, as well as a writing space lined with leather decoration.

The various decorative elements, the bronzes and the marquetry attest to the refined character of this piece of Louis XV-inspired design. A particularly decorative item, ideal to bring a touch of elegance to an office, a living room or a bedroom.

Condition: the piece shows signs of age, cracks and various defects related to its age. These imperfections are visible in the photographs, notably in the last photo, which shows the main defects of the piece. The whole remains very decorative and retains all the charm of an antique piece.
