Hermes — Cold Ceramic Bust, Greek Messenger God, a reproduction in antique/restoration style cast in ceramic with a bronze‑brown patina, measuring 11 cm wide by 15 cm high by 7 cm deep and weighing 540 g, from Europe, in excellent condition and not signed.
Description from the seller
A finely sculpted bust of Hermes (Mercury to the Romans) — the Greek god of travellers, merchants, messengers and thieves, known for his youth, athletic grace and swiftness.
The head is turned slightly, eyes cast downward in quiet contemplation; his short curly hair is rendered in tight, naturalistic ringlets. The chest and shoulders are bare, the musculature smooth and idealized — echoing the famous Hermes of Praxiteles tradition, where youthful male beauty is captured with softness and poise.
Cast in cold ceramic with a warm bronze-brown patina and a tactile, hand-finished surface. Mounted on a small classical pedestal, it is compact enough for a desk or bookshelf yet substantial in presence.
Material: Cold ceramic
Inspired by: Greek classical sculpture, Praxitelean tradition
Style: Neoclassical / Greek antiquity
Color: Aged bronze-brown
Version: Reproduction
