Description from the seller
Vintage Kundo (Kieninger & Obergfell) - 400-Day Torsion / Anniversary Clock - West Germany - Mid-20th Century
A beautiful mid-century mechanical anniversary/torsion clock made by the renowned West German manufacturer Kieninger & Obergfell under the brand name "Kundo".
This is a highly sought-after "Junior" miniature model featuring a distinctive rectangular brass and glass case, making it a wonderful display piece.
Visual & Technical Highlights:
- Dial: Striking glossy black dial hand-decorated with colorful, vibrant floral motifs and elegant gold Arabic numerals.
- Pillars: The vertical support pillars match the dial, featuring matching hand-painted floral decorations on a black enamel background.
- Case: Elegant rectangular brass frame with clear glass panels. The top panels feature subtle, beautiful sunburst/ray engravings in the upper corners. It is topped with a decorative brass carrying handle.
- Movement: Original high-quality mechanical movement stamped "Kieninger & Obergfell / Made in Western-Germany" and "no (0) jewels unadjusted".
- Pendulum: Classic rotary pendulum with four polished brass spheres.
Authenticity:
This is a fully matching, original piece. The official factory stamp "Kieninger & Obergfell / Made in Western-Germany" is proudly engraved both on the bottom plate of the clock base and on the metal frame of the glass case itself.
Condition & Restoration Note:
The clock is structurally in excellent, well-preserved cosmetic condition with a very clean dial, beautiful glass panels, and a wonderful vintage patina on the brass parts. The bottom steel washer shows some age-related oxidation/rust.
Please note: The suspension spring (torsion wire) is currently broken, which is a common occurrence during handling or relocation. The pendulum is detached but fully present. The clock is being sold as a restoration project (for parts or repair). It requires a standard 0.058 mm (.0023") replacement suspension wire (Horolovar / Kundo 5E unit) to be put back into full working order.
Dimensions : 19.5 cm × 14 cm × 11 cm
A fantastic and elegant project piece for any clock enthusiast, watchmaker, or collector of mid-century German horology.
The product will be professionally packed and sent safely to your address by local post.
The pictures of the product are made with the highest possible resolution, precisely to capture possible small defects (small scratches, stains, defect), the pictures are part of the product description.
