Description from the seller

Fascinating and rare wall devotional banner depicting the classical iconography of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii with Saint Dominic of Guzmán and Saint Catherine of Siena.

The work consists of a refined oleography/cromolithography printed directly on a raw canvas support (the weave of the fabric is visible in macro details). The sacred canvas is framed in a contemporary style and mounted on a soft rust-colored velvet hanging panel, finished at the top with loops for the suspension rod and at the bottom with twisted-nap fringe. On the sides are present the original cords braided with matching tassels.

Rarity element:
In the lower left corner the canvas bears the important official dry-seal guarantee mark of the Pontifical Shrine of Pompeii, bearing the interwoven monogram "BVR" (Beata Vergine del Rosario) surmounted by a cross. This seal, originally instituted by founder Bartolo Longo, certifies the authenticity and provenance of the artifact from the historic printing houses of the Basilica of Pompeii.

Conditions:
The object is in good overall conservation condition considering its age. It presents a beautiful antique patina. There are slight and natural signs of wear on the velvet due to time and small bloomings on the canvas that do not compromise its beauty and stability, but attest to its authenticity. Sold complete with a wooden/metal rod and original cordage for immediate display."
