Description from the seller

Robert Mapplethorpe is one of the greatest masters of fine art photography. Through an extremely stylized black-and-white, he creates portraits, nudes, and still lifes. Beyond the erotic charge that made Mapplethorpe's work famous, the exhibition highlights the classical dimension of the artist's work and his pursuit of aesthetic perfection, presenting over 200 images that trace his entire career, from the early 1970s to his premature death in 1989.

This is the catalog of the exhibition produced by Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais, in collaboration with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation of New York.
