Kyocera Samurai X3.0 Single lens reflex camera (SLR)

Kyocera Samurai X3.0 Half-Frame SLR

Serial Number:
351804

Thank you very much for viewing this distinctive Kyocera Samurai X3.0 half-frame film camera.

Introduced in 1987, the Samurai X3.0 is one of the most unusual cameras of its era, combining a true SLR viewing system with the shape and handling style of a compact video camera. It uses standard 35mm film but records 18 × 24mm half-frame images, allowing approximately twice as many photographs to be taken on a roll compared with a conventional full-frame 35mm camera.

The built-in 25-75mm F3.5-4.3 zoom lens covers a useful range from general everyday photography to moderate telephoto shooting. The camera also incorporates autofocus, automatic exposure, motorized film transport, and a built-in flash, making it considerably easier to operate than many traditional manual film SLRs.

Its highly distinctive design, half-frame format, and integrated zoom system make the Samurai X3.0 interesting both as a practical film camera and as a collectible example of late-1980s Japanese camera design.
