Description from the seller
An interesting and diverse lot for collectors and dealers, consisting of one classic Great Britain stamp block and 5 historical covers (complete with front and back views) spanning nearly a century of international postal history (1893-1982).
The lot includes in detail:
1. Great Britain (Queen Victoria - Jubilee Issue 1887-1900): Splendid block of 6 stamps, 4½d green and carmine (SG 206) with intact bottom sheet margin. Original period gum (mostly MNH / Mint Never Hinged, with very light natural signs of time).
2. USA to Germany (1893): Commercial cover from Indianapolis to Landshut (Bavaria). Highly interesting franking featuring a 1¢ Franklin, a 2¢ green Washington, and the famous 2¢ from the 1892 "Columbian Exposition" commemorative series (Landing of Columbus). Arrival postmark on the reverse.
3. USA to Germany (1924): Registered letter from Holyoke (MA) to Munich (Bavaria) with multiple franking (3x 5¢ blue Theodore Roosevelt). Packed with transit markings on the reverse, including a "New York Foreign" postmark and a Munich oval arrival stamp.
4. USA to Germany (1927): Cover from Yonkers to Munich franked with a 5¢ Roosevelt. The reverse features two 1927 Red Cross Christmas Seals used for tuberculosis charity.
5. Australia - Queen Elizabeth II Coronation FDC (1953): Official First Day Cover sent via Air Mail to Germany, featuring the complete Coronation stamp series (2d, 3½d, 7½d).
6. Modern Postal Selection (4 international covers):
• 1934 cover from Flushing (USA) to Munich with mixed franking.
• 1973 commercial cover from the Island of Guernsey (Bailiwick) to London with local regional franking.
• 1973/74 East African Postal Community cover (Kenya/Uganda/Tanzania) sent from Mombasa to London with the 50th Anniversary of Interpol stamp.
