Neverita didyma specimen, 90 mm diameter, original, in good condition, year 1982, Indo-West Pacific origin, non-CITES species.
Description from the seller
The perfection of the spiral – a giant from the sand
Expand your collection with a fascinating masterpiece of marine evolution: for sale is a perfectly flawless Neverita didyma (Great Moon Snail or Navel Snail) in museum-grade GEM quality.
With a stunning diameter of 90 mm, this specimen breaks all typical size boundaries of its family and represents a rare MONSTER SIZE. While moon snails are usually small, inconspicuous beach jewels, this piece is a true, fully grown giant.
A gleaming work of art of the tides
The genus Neverita is famous for its flat-spherical shell architecture and the extremely smooth, porcelain-like surface. The absolute highlight of this species is the underside: the deep umbilicus is partially hidden by a characteristic, two-part and dark brown to reddish colored callus (hardened tissue), which gives the shell a fascinating aesthetic. Since these snails live buried in sand and are exposed to the tides, almost all large shells bear rough beach marks, fine cracks, or matte zones. A gigantic specimen in this perfectly undamaged condition with flawless deep luster is an absolute world rarity.
