Petrified wood flame sculpture from Madagascar, a natural fossil wood form in a sculptural flame shape, weighing 25 kg with origin Madagascar.
AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
This exceptional petrified wood flame from Madagascar combines the ancient power of nature with a modern, almost artistic form. With an imposing weight of 25 kilograms, this piece presents itself as a majestic work of art that instantly draws attention both for its size and its intense coloration.
The warm, earthy tones—from deep red, to amber accents, to golden and caramel-colored layers—tell the millions-year-old story of this once-living tree. Through the process of fossilization, the original wood structures were gradually replaced by minerals, creating a fascinating interpretation of the original material: solid as stone, yet in its grain alive like wood.
The artfully polished flame form emphasizes the natural color transitions and makes the piece appear in an intense, almost glowing light. Every curve and every polished surface reveals new details that flow like currents in an eternal fire. Thus this fossil appears both dynamic and powerful, while still radiating the calm and steadfastness of petrified wood.
This extraordinary object is ideally suited as a striking decorative piece in large spaces, as a highlight of a high-quality collection, or as an exclusive statement piece in galleries and showrooms. The combination of natural beauty, impressive presence, and geological history makes this petrified wood flame a work of art like no other.
A timeless monument of nature — powerful, rare, and of impressive elegance.
Petrified Wood Flame from Madagascar
Weight: 25,181.76 g
Size: 320x370x260 mm
Treatment: None
Origin: Madagascar
It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks.
Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon.
And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
