Description from the seller
This extraordinary set of petrified wood from Madagascar brings together three fascinating specimens that showcase the impressive fusion of fossil history and mineral beauty. Over millions of years the original wood structures were preserved by mineral processes and transformed into unique works of natural art.
Each piece shows its own color world and grain. Warm red, orange, brown, and gold tones meet dark contrasts and fine lines that still reveal the original growth structures of the wood. The high-gloss polished surfaces make the natural patterns especially striking and give the pieces extraordinary depth.
The left specimen delights with lively red and orange hues reminiscent of an abstract landscape. The middle piece displays a rare combination of dark, almost black areas and finely layered wood structures that highlight the fossil origin particularly impressively. The right specimen combines warm red and brown tones with distinctive natural markings and offers a fascinating glimpse into the million-year history of this fossil material.
Petrified wood is one of the most fascinating fossil minerals in the world. Through complete mineralization the original wood structure is preserved while the material simultaneously gains the hardness and durability of stone. The Madagascar finds are especially valued for their extraordinary colors and superb polishability.
Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Petrified Wood
Weight: 2275,81 g

Treatment: None
Origin: Madagascar
It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks.
Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon.
And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
