Description from the seller
OLYMPUS PEN D, tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Olympus Pen D, launched in 1962, was the upmarket flagship of Yoshihisa Maitani's celebrated half-frame Pen line, yielding 72 shots from a single 36-exposure roll. It carries a beautifully sharp six-element F.Zuiko 32mm f/1.9 lens, the fastest fitted to any Pen, behind a Copal X leaf shutter that runs to 1/500 second. An uncoupled selenium meter aids exposure, while the ultra-compact body embodies Maitani's goal of a high-quality camera small enough to carry anywhere. It is a much-loved classic among half-frame enthusiasts.
Important — please read carefully:
The shutter runs slow, giving about 4 stops of overexposure. Please review the photos and consider this before bidding.
Condition: Used — Fair
Pre-owned, functional but has noticeable flaws (optics/appearance)
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Lens (F.Zuiko 32mm f/1.9): Clear, no issues
Viewfinder: Clean (cleaned inside)
Functional
The shutter fires at all speeds and the light meter responds.
Light seals replaced.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- 1/60 — measured 1/38 s (approx. 0.7 stop slow)
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 3.8 OVER / EV15: 4.2 OVER
Some of these deviations exceed what negative film can absorb — please read the Known Issues section and allow for them when shooting.
Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
- Light seals (foam) replaced
Known Issues
1. The shutter runs slow: 1/8 measured 1/4.3, 1/60 measured 1/38, 1/500 measured 1/138.
2. Because of the slow shutter, exposures come out about 4 stops over (3.8 stops at EV12, 4.2 stops at EV15). A shutter service is recommended.

Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
