This impressive rubellite ball lives on its exceptionally strong color contrast. Numerous vivid pink to deep raspberry-red rubellite patches are spread across an mostly cream-white matrix, creating a lively, almost speckled drawing. Thanks to the spherical form, this pattern continues all around, turning practically every viewing angle into a new composition.
The rubellite inclusions appear in very different forms. In addition to fine, speckled patches, there are larger, clearly delineated crystal areas and irregular accumulations. Their color palette ranges from bright magenta and bold pink to dark wine red. Especially against the light background, these shades display enormous presence.
The matrix itself is by no means uniformly white. Cream-colored and slightly gray to beige patches run through the material, giving it added depth. In places, individual areas are slightly translucent and crystalline, so the otherwise strong drawing is occasionally interrupted by lighter, calm zones. The high-gloss polish brings out both the intense color of the rubellite and the different mineral structures particularly nicely.
Rubellite denotes the pink to intensely red variety of tourmaline. Its characteristic strong pink, red and raspberry tones make it one of the most striking and sought-after color variants within the tourmaline group.
