Impressive set of four antique solid walnut throne chairs, characterized by tall shaped backs and rich carved ornamentation.

The backs feature sculpted heads at the summit and large central medallions with grotesques displaying a screaming expression, surrounded by ornamental motifs. Two examples also preserve the upper pierced decoration.

The set is completed by the decorated seats, the shaped and carved front rails, and the distinctive turned legs, joined by shaped stretchers.

A striking ensemble with a strong dramatic presence, distinguished by the imposing proportions and the richness of the details.

Stato di conservazione

The chairs are generally in good condition, considering their age, with signs of wear, finish abrasions, cracks and small losses, as visible in the photographs.

In two chairs the pierced decoration at the top of the backrest is missing. Some preserved original elements will also be supplied, included in the lot, which could be used in the context of a potential restoration. There is no guarantee that these elements will be sufficient to fully reconstruct the missing decorations.

Being antique furnishings, there may be restorations or repairs carried out over time. The patina and signs of use attest to their history and contribute to their character.
