Art Deco guilloché enamel locket pendant in silver vermeil from Norway, dating to the early 20th century, weighing 14.51 g, in good used condition with two compartments and original ribbed backing and bezels.
Description from the seller
Beautiful antique guilloché enamel medallion (locket hanger).
It is characterized by the refined, machine-engraved wave pattern beneath the translucent, pale blue enameling. The edges are finished with a white enamel circle (at the bottom slightly damaged) and a fine geometric pattern in Greek style.
This type of pendants was widely made in the early 20th century (often in the Edwardian or Art Deco period) by prominent Scandinavian silversmiths.
The interior shows a gorgeous gilded finish (vermeil) on silver, which at the time was a sign of high quality and luxury.
Both compartments still contain the original finely ribbed background fill and are equipped with the metal bezels intended to hold the photos and the protective glass or celluloid plates securely in place. These sit somewhat loose.
Silver hallmark “835” and master mark A.M.
After decades of careful collecting I have decided to part with (part of) my collection. I wish these special objects a place with a new enthusiast who understands the value of historic preservation. It is time these pieces receive the attention they deserve, so that they will be preserved for the long term.
I ensure extremely careful packaging and insured shipping.
