Description from the seller
Chassis 3767GT
The Ferrari 250 GTO with chassis number 3767GT (often referred to as #19) is one of the rare and famous examples in the brand’s history, documented on Ultimatecarpage and Barchetta.
This 250 GTO, finished in BP Racing Green, was originally owned and driven by David Piper. At the end of 1962 he achieved wins at the 9 Hours of Kyalami and the Grand Prix of Angola.
Early the following year, the car was sold to the USA; the new owner Ed Cantrell occasionally drove with Piper. After the Nassau Speed Week in 1964, the car was withdrawn from racing. In 1974 the car was repainted red. In recent years the car has been a regular participant at the Goodwood Revival and since 2008 it again carries its distinctive BP color scheme.
The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO has earned a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts worldwide.
Not surprising when you consider the incredibly beautiful and balanced body. You really don’t have to wonder if this is a race car with potential.
The restrained power and the presence to ‘roll up’ all the road in front of it are clearly present.
