AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful antique French binocular field glass from Maison de l’Ingénieur Chevallier, Paris, dating from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1870–1890.

The binoculars are in very good condition for their age, with normal light signs of use and aging. The mechanism works well and the binoculars come with the original leather carrying case.

On both tubes, left and right, is the engraved reference to Maison de l’Ingénieur Chevallier, Paris / Pont-Neuf. That provenance also corresponds to the text on the inside of the leather case. Thus it is clearly evident that the binoculars and case originally belong together.

Maison de l’Ingénieur Chevallier was a well-known Paris house for optical and scientific instruments.
