King's House – Sheffield Collection – Large centrepiece in silver-plated metal with decorative handles
Elegant centrepiece in silver-plated metal, made for the King's House – Sheffield Collection, as documented by the mark on the bottom.
The item features a wide oval basket with a wavy profile, enriched along the edge with elaborated floral and vegetal motifs in relief. The structure is completed by four ornamental feet and two arcuate, crossed handles, decorated with scrolls, leaves and small flowers.
Particularly striking, the centrepiece evokes the forms of traditional English silverware in a neorococo taste, reinterpreted in a more recent decorative production.
