Description from the seller
Beautiful Hexaplex cichoreum shell, the common name “endywia murex,” is a medium-sized sea snail, a marine snail in the family Muricidae, the murex shells or rock snails. The short spire of the shell consists of eight to nine whorls, which become flattened and thick with age. They are transversely ridged. They display six to seven leaf-like varices, with the varices raised and curved. The umbilicus is fairly large and deep. Its color is yellow-brown, often banded with a darker shade. The leaves are usually dark brown or blackish. The white, almost circular aperture has a rather long, open posterior siphonal canal, which gradually widens but is narrow and initially twists to the right. The lips are tinted pink. Dimensions—70/105/110 mm. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
