Pair of handmade Italian silver 800 bowls, signed by silversmith Galvan, with dimensions 14 cm wide, 5 cm high, 3 cm deep and a total weight of 179 g, dating to circa 1970–1980, in good used condition with small signs of age.
Description from the seller
Splendid and rare set composed of two hollowware bowls in genuine 800 solid silver, entirely handcrafted and signed by the Italian silversmith Galvan. The pieces date exactly to 1971 and are a perfect example of brutalist and organic design from the Italian Space Age era. Each bowl was shaped starting from a single sheet of silver: the magnificent hammered texture ("planished") unfolds concentrically from the smooth base toward the edges, creating spectacular plays of light and reflections on the surface. UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SET: Nesting set (interlocking): The two bowls have slightly graduated sizes and were designed to fit perfectly one inside the other, offering a magnificent aesthetic whether displayed side by side or stacked. Progressive Hand-Engraved Serial Number: On the bottom of each piece, in addition to the silversmith's mark and the metal title, the original workshop number is hand-scratched to attest to contemporaneity and authenticity: one bears code 63 - 800 and the other code 65 - 800. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Material: Solid 800 silver (guaranteed by the original stamps visible in the photos). Total weight of the set: 179 grams (real weight verified on a digital scale). Large Bowl dimensions: Diameter about 20 cm | Height about 7.5 cm. Small Bowl dimensions: Diameter about 19 cm | Height about 7 cm. Condition: Excellent vintage condition, splendid era patina. No deep stamp or structural defect. The edge is intentionally irregular and cut to the edge as per the original designer's design. Perfect as a mid-century modern centerpiece, luxury entryway catchall, or as an investment in Italian art silverware of the twentieth century.
